Harley-Davidson got it’s extremely humble launch when William Harley and Arthur Davidson designed the first production motorcycle in 1903. The motobike that was built was a racing bike. It was manufactured in a small shed wooden branded Harley-Davidson Motor Company on the front door. One year later Harley-Davidson had put out 3 production motorcycles for the public. Harley-Davidson won the first race in 1905 and recruited thier first employee. 3 years later, they sold the first motorcycle to the Detroit Police Department and was utilized as a police service. H-D built 6 story factory in 1912 then began to export their first bikes to Japan.
H-D became more popular in 1914 and was defined as “The Wrecking Crew” when formally started the national racing circuit. By 1917 one-third of all motorcycles developed would be sold to the military, and had also been the start of the Service School for Harley-Davidson Mechanics, for both military and civilian bikes.
Half of the bikes in 1918 were brought to Military service of World War 1 and it was Roy Holtz the first soldier have ridden the H-D Motorcycle in Germany. The motocycle company became more productive in 1920 with 2,000 dealers in 67 countries in the whole world.
Most of the competitors of Harley-Davidson disappeared in 1931 except for the Indian Motorcycle Company. The Indian and Harley-Davidson motorcycle company were the only two remaining motorcycle companies.
For the reason that world enters into World War 2, so does Harley return back into Military motorcycle development, and the service school is turned back up in the military motorcycle service school, also known as the Quartermaster School for military mechanics. The Harley-Davidson Motorcycle were barely reached out by the public during this time.
